its been a week of appointments for me. looking at my palm pilot before the week started i would have guessed it was going to be a pretty slow week. a week where i would have plenty of time to get things done and not have to spend many evenings in the office. and i certainly wouldn't be spending *gasp* saturday in the office.

but here i am. its saturday, and i am trying to finish things up for my youth meetings tomorrow. so what happened? it turned out i did have some appointments this week. but they weren't the kind that show up on my palm pilot. they weren't the kind that i plan on at all. instead they were divine appointments.

a divine appointment is one that God sets up. a divine appointment is when God puts someone in just the right place, at just the right time, where He can possibly use that person to help another.

now, for the sake of those who have talked with me this week and shared very personal observations, struggles, and thoughts, i won't go into any details of my divine appointments this week. only to say they can come in the form of an instant message sent to a stranger, seemingly at random, a phone call meant for business turning into much more, or simply striking up a conversation with the girl making your drink at the coffee shop.

a divine appointment is meaningful, often emotional, and always important. at least for me, they tend to come at times where i feel like i have a million things to do, and yet are important enough to drop everything. when God starts working, i believe its important to drop whatever you are doing and join in.

now many people would look at these phone calls, ims, and coffee shop conversations and call them coincidence. they'd say that it all happens by chance. but what is harder to believe... that a God who loves us and wants us to know Him intimately puts things in motion for them to happen, or that i (and so many others) just happen to be in the right place at the right time, over and over again?

i don't know about you, but i'll put my money on my God.
